Animals

Today when I was playing animals with Josh he said he wanted to play "organize animals." He wanted to put the animals in groups according to when, where, how he received them. !! This was a surprise, since I didn't know he remembered; I certainly couldn't remember all of them. He did pretty good- he remembered ones from Christmas, ones from Target "I got this horse when I stopped using the pacifier." I was impressed. Of course, sometimes his memory wasn't quite right. He said he got princess and gorbazorb from Uncle Nicholas, when really he just associates them with Uncle Nicholas since they named those horses. Still, it was pretty interesting to see him put the animals he got at the wedding, the ones from Uncle Tim etc. etc.

Next, we lined up all the animals we could find. Here is what we had:

Dinosaurs: 26
Horses: 14
Cows: 7
Giraffes: 7
Zebras: 6
Hippos: 6
Bears: 6
Pigs: 5
Lions: 5
Sheep: 4
Tigers: 4
Elephants: 4
Rhinos: 4
Chickens: 4
Goats: 3
Gorillas: 3
Moose: 3
Alligators: 3
birds: 2
sharks:2
squirrells: 1
skunk: 1
wolf: 1
donkey: 1
raccoon: 1
badger: 1
deer: 1
beaver: 1
kangaroo: 1
Orca: 1
Lynx: 1
Walrus: 1
Camel: 1
Dog: 1
Duck: 1
Cat: 1
Snake: 1

So, that is like 140. However, we couldn't find the leopards (we think there are 2). I also think some giraffes, elephants, gorillas, and zebras were missing. Josh pointed out that all we don't have is an octopus. Which made me think- is he trying to collect every animal that he knows?? What happens when he learns about new animals??
