First Stitches

Between the hours of 5 and 8, at our house, is klutz time. Sam doesn't take a nap anymore but is clearly tired. He falls a lot and annoys us by bothering Josh. He falls so often that half the time we don't say anything because it is a fake cry. But I am glad I can tell the difference between fake and real! Last night when I heard his cry/scream I went running, and there he was with blood all over his face. We cleaned him and Kevin took him to urgent care. Apparently, he was acting wild and throwing toys around and jumping in the toys and he hit is head on the corner of a table we have in the basement. Anyway, he now has three stitches just above the bridge of his nose. Based on what Kevin told me, I am glad I was not the one who took him to get the stitches- it was sort of like a straight jacket that they put him in to keep him from moving! I don't handle things like this well, but with three boys I suppose I should get used to it- good thing urgent care gave us a handy dandy magnet to keep on the fridge with their phone number!

Eggs and Butterfly's

These are Sam's resurrection eggs that he made in school- each egg has something in it and it tells the story of Jesus. So the first one has "donkey fur" another one has a thorn, and the last one is empty because Jesus is alive. His teacher sent a sheet with it so that you can read about each item. I really liked this and sam loves it- he likes to show each item and share with everyone who visits.

Saturday we went to see the Butterfly's with grandpa John. As usual we had a great time and can't wait for warm weather and more days at the gardens!

Moments of Wonder

Psalm 139:13-14a "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;"
I am sure every parent has these moments. When you are just staring in awe at the beauty you have created.

Beautiful children that care for one another- even if rarely shown!

Almost always during and after nursing I find myself staring in complete amazement at Zeke- occasionally I have a camera nearby to try and capture every little part of him--like his facial features, especially his eyes.

And his hands- I love his little hands.

I admit that these "moments" come frequently with a newborn, but I still have them with Sam and Josh too! Often I am amazed at their changes- that what used to be the babe in my arms is now this: A person with his own (and often frustrating) mind! I always notice their fighting, so I need to try to capture more of their true moments of wonder! Like Sam reading to Josh- how they were laughing! I am amazed at who they have become, even though at times it is scary- scary because I get frustrated with some of their traits (like Sam refusing to speak to an adult when they are talking to him)--but then I remember I CREATED him AND he is acting JUST LIKE ME. (I used to be/okay, I AM quite shy). And, Josh- I LOVE listening to him play- he is very imaginative and we hear him talking to his horses and cars- and then the cars start yelling, "Don't talk like that! Go sit in time out!" Yes- I created them and they act and talk, like me!

Warm Weather!

Yes, 42 degrees is considered warm! "Eager for Spring" does not truly describe how anxious I am for warm weather. The boys, specifically Sam, seems to be bored with everything in the house. Nevermind that we have so many toys, games, puzzles and more that it is almost embaressing how spoiled they are, yet, he seems to be tired of playing with all those things and tends to just annoy Josh and me. So come on Spring! Notice that I did remember to put their snow pants on- good thing since Josh LOVED every puddle, especially the "ice rink" which is no more- that was the best place to throw things and watch them splash!

Good Night

Well, Zeke has had a couple good nights of sleep- I can't believe it because it is so unlike my boys to sleep this much. I am sure it won't last...Here is a cute picture I took of him still snoozing away. I also like the below picture of Joel and Mia and Kevin and Zeke.

Update

Sam is finally getting back to normal. For one thing, his cold is better. But also, going back to school on wednesday and again today was really good for him. He likes routine and so now that things are more normal- so is he. He is happy and laughing more and he talks to Zeke and about Zeke, and also asked to hold him. So, we are happy to have our normal Sam back! If only I can get him to LOOK at the camera when we take pictures!!

Bathroom Project Complete!

Thank you very much to Uncle Jan and Aunt Marianne. As of today the bathroom project is done. We raised the shower 6 inches (so people over 5'8" can stand under it. We also replaced the toilet and the faucet. (And I bought a new drill!) Here are some pics:

Zeke (or Zekey, Zeke-a-poo...)

Yes, he does seem to look like Josh. However, Zeke's eyes are a dark blue right now- Josh's eyes were brown almost right away.

People like to ask what do Sam and Josh think about Zeke...
Sam: He will walk over and look at Zeke when someone is holding him or if he is sleeping. Sam will always tell us when Zeke is crying and say, "You need to take care of him." However, right now Sam does not want to hold him or be near him for a picture. He does not like it when Zeke cries.

Josh: He likes to go over by Zeke and shout "Lalalala". He is always bouncing/dancing and smiling at him. He likes to show Zeke to people when the come to the house, and Josh likes to just look at him. Josh is always asking if he can hold Zeke and just gets the biggest smile when we let him. However, Josh also keeps saying there is a baby in mommy's tummy so I think he is kind of confused about Zeke too...
