Josh and Preschool

Thanksgiving Feast Day

Field trip to the GR museum - josh's teacher told me he was the only kid who knew what matched with what. She was VERY impressed with his memory.

Corn shucking - the next several pictures are funny because Josh's teacher told me "Josh shucked and shucked corn today! He was the best at it!" Sure enough- kids come and go at the corn shucking station...but Josh is always there!

Sink or float day- josh brought a shark. He really enjoyed this and was soaking wet when I picked him up.

not sure...crazy indian dance??

I came for Josh's birthday.

Josh and Nana on Grandparents day

Kevin went on the field trip to Mr. Sinke's train

The next two pictures are from josh's first field trip in September to the children's museum. He cried and cried when I left him at school that morning. I felt like the only parent NOT going. The mother he was with said he had fun, but I swear he looks like he is crying in that group photo!

Feast Day

I can't believe I forgot my camera for Josh's Feast Day at school! I will eventually be getting pictures from Josh's teacher, so I will have to do a large "preschool" post then. Below is the picture of Josh and his native american (not alien!) head gear and drum. then a picture of Sam being silly, then a picture of Sam two years ago on HIS feast day.

Typical Sam

Funny photo- but nothing to do with the post!

Today, I was cleaning a bit, picked up a paper on the table and Sam said- "Don't throw that away!" So I looked at it and here is what it says (all the 3 look like E):

1+1=21+E=4
2-1=14-2=2
2+E=51+2=3
4+2=55-2=E
1X1=16-4=2
5(then that 5 is erased)

I said, "Sam what is this?"
Sam "I wanted to do some math problems."

Typical Sam, wanting to do numbers!

Animals

Today when I was playing animals with Josh he said he wanted to play "organize animals." He wanted to put the animals in groups according to when, where, how he received them. !! This was a surprise, since I didn't know he remembered; I certainly couldn't remember all of them. He did pretty good- he remembered ones from Christmas, ones from Target "I got this horse when I stopped using the pacifier." I was impressed. Of course, sometimes his memory wasn't quite right. He said he got princess and gorbazorb from Uncle Nicholas, when really he just associates them with Uncle Nicholas since they named those horses. Still, it was pretty interesting to see him put the animals he got at the wedding, the ones from Uncle Tim etc. etc.

Next, we lined up all the animals we could find. Here is what we had:

Dinosaurs: 26
Horses: 14
Cows: 7
Giraffes: 7
Zebras: 6
Hippos: 6
Bears: 6
Pigs: 5
Lions: 5
Sheep: 4
Tigers: 4
Elephants: 4
Rhinos: 4
Chickens: 4
Goats: 3
Gorillas: 3
Moose: 3
Alligators: 3
birds: 2
sharks:2
squirrells: 1
skunk: 1
wolf: 1
donkey: 1
raccoon: 1
badger: 1
deer: 1
beaver: 1
kangaroo: 1
Orca: 1
Lynx: 1
Walrus: 1
Camel: 1
Dog: 1
Duck: 1
Cat: 1
Snake: 1

So, that is like 140. However, we couldn't find the leopards (we think there are 2). I also think some giraffes, elephants, gorillas, and zebras were missing. Josh pointed out that all we don't have is an octopus. Which made me think- is he trying to collect every animal that he knows?? What happens when he learns about new animals??

aliens?!?!

So, Monday night at dinner was an especially enjoyable time. Josh was happy (not crying) eating food (!!white rice) and talking about school. He was chatting, and then said, "Today we learned about a-a-a-aliens."
Pause. I think this over for a bit. Then I say, "Do you mean Indians? Also called NAtive Americans?" Josh: "YES! AA-lien- how do you say that?" It was so cute! Kevin was laughing but trying not to let Josh see.

Today- I see Josh and Eli a bit too close to the road. So I go outside and ask them not to get too close AND to stop throwing things at the cars. Then I repeated it since these two things were important. Then I said, "okay Josh? Okay Eli?" Eli responds, "Ummm, okay. But can we still shoot aliens?"

Boys!
