Zeke Plays Hockey

Zeke played hockey in the living room today! I walked in and he was hitting the ball and crawling or walking to it, then hitting it again.

But sometimes tables got in the way.

Uh oh, where did it go?!?!

Sam's First Soccer Practice

Our blog needs an update. I wish I took a picture this morning of the boys waving goodbye to daddy, but I didn't. They are going to miss him! Maybe I will take pictures of them crying for him later this week...

Thursday was gorgeous weather, and perfect for Sam's first soccer practice. His team has 7 people, ages 4 and 5. First they ran a lap around the field. Sam and Jaden stayed right behind the coach.

Next they practiced kicking/passing to each other.

This picture is funny because Sam really did spend almost the entire practice with his hands in his pocket. I don't know if it was a "This is so easy" stance, or "I am not supposed to use my hand in soccer" idea...

They also did some dribbling. They need a little work at this...

Meanwhile, I had forgotten to take toys for Josh and Zeke. Of course, Josh was more than happy to play in the dirt.

This is Zeke saying, MMMMMMM, to the cinnamon bread from Great Harvest.

HI! Dino's and more

Zeke loves the phone. He often points at it, then puts his hand to his face and says "hi". He loves playing with cell phones, real or fake, but the best is when he is allowed to play with our house phone. Hi! Hi! oooh, hi!

This past Saturday we had a busy day! We went to the GR museum and saw the dinosaur exhibit. Both Sam and Josh liked it, but also were scared of some things. Even Sam! He clung to Kevin and refused to look at that T-Rex. But he wasn't afraid of anything else, just the T-Rex. Josh was scared at first, but then got used to it. AFter the museum we headed to Holland and spent the evening with Grandpa John. He gave us a tour of the remodeled HCHS- wow! It doesn't even look like my high school anymore!

Stuff, hockey, and Sudoku

My wonderful husband surprised me with this centerpiece for our table. Isn't it gorgeous?

Kevin's parents also surprised me with this giraffe and elephant to replace the broken vase- Josh thought it was a great idea!

Last Saturday Kevin, Uncle Nicholas, Grandpa Stewart, and Sarah's Brian all went to a Leaf's Hockey game!

Here are the boys showing off their Leaf's shirts.

Finally, Sam BEGGED for me to teach him how to do "that number game Nana does." Sudoku- he loves it and is quite good at it!

The Party

The events of Zeke's birthday party went as follows:

While Zeke sleepeth, Josh and Uncle Nicholas find all the animals...

Then the party begins with pizza---something Zeke enjoys to stuff in his mouth!

Next came presents for...Zeke? Well, he did love his presents! But so did Sam and Josh!

Then came the cake- Zeke got a monkey cake!

Which, he didn't really dive into, but he did get some!

The night ended with us watching the video of Zeke's first year. Below is a portion of his video.

What is you purpose?

Here is a link to a really good chapel. My dad told me to watch it- it is a former Holland Christian teacher who came back to give a chapel. She had left to be a stay at home mom, her chapel speech is a bit about being a stay at home mom, but is mostly about "purpose". Check it out. It is good.

Sigh. Rough coupla days.

What do you think- maybe Josh just shouldn't play in the living room?!?! Or maybe we need Spring already so they can burn off this energy outside!

WHY WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO THROW BALLS IN THE HOUSE!

They weren't even supposed to be in the living room!

I was in the kitchen and was ignoring the fact that they had wandered upstairs to the living room after being told to stay downstairs. Sam was playing Leapster. Josh was bouncing around (he is a very bouncy kid). I did not know the bouncing involved a BALL.

LOUD CRASH. Then, simultaneously I hear:

Sam (in his tattletale bored like voice): MOOOOM, look what Josh did.
Josh: BAWLING. WAILING.

He came running to me and reached up for a hug. I think he was scared and felt really really bad all at the same time. It helped me stay calmer! Seeing that he felt so awful about it really did help me keep my cool-I did not yell or raise my voice at all. I mean, he still needed to sit in time out, which he did very obediently (he actually sat there with his head down but just as I tried to sneak a picture he lifted his head up).

But there really is a difference between defiance and just saying, "sorry," compared to Josh's emotions which truly showed how awful he felt.

For EVERYONE: Please stop throwing balls in my house!!!
